We were invited to design the gardens that surround a new timber clad house, built to replace the existing family home.
Our design utilises extensive gravel gardens, planted with thousands of perennials and grasses to give the space a ‘wild’ feel. The gravel also blurs the bounds of the driveway and parking areas, making the whole area feel like one cohesive space.
Beech columns are scattered through the space to reference the pine forest that once stood on the site, of which a small enclave still exists on the site. The house, designed by Allan Joyce Architects, sits on a large brick plinth that we continued to create brick raised beds with bespoke porcelain steps through to guide users from the main patio down to the back garden area. The back garden contains a bespoke water feature nestled into the planting, and guiding the eye on to the countryside views beyond.
Our client requested that we re-site several items of personal significance including trees, statues and sections of dry stone walling. We repurposed the dry stone walls to create benches, and settled the statues into the planting areas.
This project is currently under construction to be completed by the end of 2025.
