Apt Studios is design-led, creating bespoke garden and landscape designs for home, work or public environments across the UK. With an in house construction and planting team, we can make your vision become reality.
We have our own construction team who can construct and plant your garden following the design process. We can prepare a detailed costing of all the plans, and discuss this with you, make any adjustments needed and then schedule the works at your convenience.
MATTHEW ALLAN
Matthew (Director) set up his design studio in 2010. His initial passion began working in community gardens encouraging local people to create green spaces to grow food, flowers and develop friendships. His interest in sustainable development the environment and the impact on our health continue to drive him to design gardens and landscapes for individuals and communities.
He qualified as a Landscape Architect in 2005 and subsequently completing a Masters in Construction Project Management. Having worked in the landscape design industry for over 20 years he has had the opportunity to design and construct projects in both private and commercial settings. His portfolio includes private and commercial gardens, roof terraces, public spaces, show gardens, NHS trust garden, and housing development projects.
JEFF OLSON
Jeff (Project Manager) has worked with Apt Studios from the early days and project manages the construction of designs. He directs the landscaping teams on site to ensure they work efficiently, within timescales and maintain attention to detail and quality of works. He is great with clients and keeping our projects on track.
PIPPA ALLAN
Pippa (Business Manager), previously a social worker for 20years, has joined her husband in the family business. She is an all rounder, and can be found managing the office, human resources, accounts and occasionally can be seen on site - joining in with the planting team to get the jobs completed on time.

Right from the very start Matt was helpful and really took on board our requirements when it came to creating our new garden. The end product is exactly what we wanted and looks great too. The choice of plants and layout is perfect for us and our 3-year-old who loves it. During the construction and all throughout the build Matt and his workers were thoughtful and respectful of not only our house but also our neighbours. We moved into a new build which had a patio, grass and lots of fencing. Matt has transformed it into a garden where we have been able to relax and entertain our friends as if we have lived here for years. Matt listened to all our ideas and wish list, produced a plan which he was happy to amend and then managed to fit it into our budget.
